>>The authorization of the website can obviously not be "for" NICAP because
the original networking that made up the organization itself no longer exists, rights
to the NICAP files not withstanding. No group can claim that. But CUFOS does,
and has officially had, the bulk of NICAP's original files and should be the one to
decide this. .....snip.....
>Exactly. We'll be using the UFO Evidence and NICAP records to complete
Phase One. The UFO Evidence II will help us construct Phase Two. Here's
where you'll all need to be patient. The last phase contains more of the less
peer-reviewed and more controversial material,

Hi Jerry & List Members,
I meant to respond to that statement. I was so pre-occupied
I had to rush through a reply and didn't address this. And it IS an important
one. The whole idea of the NICAP site is to focus attention on the best cases,
avoid those that are non-cases. To this day, after twenty years or more, many
cases have two or more "explanations". Some cases were explained, many with
numerous "explanations" are still unknowns.
The important thing to keep in mind for now, is that if a sighting
event is NOT
listed, it just might be that we haven't gotten to it or found an accurate version.
jc: And this taken directly from the site in November give us an
idea of what
the NICAP site is trying to accomplish.

We hope you find the NICAP web site both interesting and
informative. This site
is the world's interlink to the UFO Evidence, the best evidence. .....snip.....
"The following is what makes UFOLOGY worth pursuing and is not
1) There have been millions of sightings worldwide and a hundred-thousand-plus
sightings are on computer (UFOCAT).
2) 3,000-plus sightings from aircraft (Dr. Richard Haines).
3) 489 radar cases, many radar/visual (Dominique Weinstein); 363 radar cases,
76 as R/V (USAF records alone).
4) 5600 trace cases documented, 4104 involving UFO visual sightings (CUFOS).
5) Over 500 cases of E-M effects associated with UFO sightings (CUFOS) and
185 E-M cases documented involving UFOs near aircraft (Dr. Richard Haines).
6) Hundreds, if not thousands, of excellent close encounters by credible observers
whose testimony in court would be taken at face value.
7) And, 701 Project Blue Book UNKNOWNS. "
jc 6/9/2009: . . . and Fran has accomplished this and more, and is still
working at it.
